The RCM Story . . .

God’s Love Restoring Lives through Safe and Healing Counseling

When we started out in 2000, it was as they say “on a hope and a promise.” We felt the Holy Spirit’s tug on our hearts to minister God’s love to those who were emotionally wounded and spiritually needy. In response, we soon launched eight different types of Restoration Groups (support groups) such as divorce recovery, alcohol and substance abuse, kid support, marriages in crisis, codependency and others, at a large church in Orlando, Florida. Our primary goal was to be vessels of God’s Love Restoring Lives through Safe and Healing Fellowship.

After the facilitators were trained and the groups were organized, we began getting requests for counseling. With just enough personal financial resources to cover a three-month lease for a small office in Winter Park, Florida, we opened Restoration Counseling Ministry.

The first obstacle to accomplishing our mission was an empty counseling calendar. One day, I prayed, “Lord, you’ve given us enough funds to pay for an office for a few months, but we are not being good stewards of what you provided unless we have counselees. What should we do?” He instructed me to go to the local mission, and see what I could do to meet some of the counseling needs. Soon, the workers at the mission were calling and bringing some of the residents to our office and our schedule slowly began to fill up.

It was during those small beginnings we witnessed the miraculous results of Christian counseling that is centered on the Bible and prayer. What blessings God poured out on us; people’s lives were being transformed by His compassion, the power of the Holy Spirit, and the truths of the Word!

Over the years, we have extended our services to be able to also offer counseling on location churches, phone, email and web cam counseling and soon we will be offering web cast recovery groups.

We have been privileged to minister to thousands of clients! When people make a faithful effort to overcome their hopeless feelings and the obstacles from what is sometimes a lifetime of problems, God responds with His grace and love. We may have skills, compassion and knowledge, but in essence it is God who does the healing. His is the Wonderful Counselor and the Great Physician! We are privileged to be one of His instruments of emotional and spiritual healing.

Today, we have the same heart felt desires to ministry to the sick, wounded and oppressed. These are the kind of people whom Jesus spent time with, and cared deeply for during His life on earth. He took upon himself their shame and offered hope, healing and freedom to all those who believed in Him.
